Summit Partners with Victaulic on New Mechanical Fitting
Debuting at the annual National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Safety Expo this past June 2018, Victaulic announced to the marketplace the commercialization of the FIRELOCKTM grooved mechanical fitting and sprinkler product line. Created to replace threads on both outlets and sprinklers, this ingenious mechanical connection redefines sprinkler system design and installation in exposed applications, particularly the storage and warehouse market. The innovative coupling has one-bolt, is captured onto sprinklers with common connection sizes (0.5”, 0.75”, 1.0”), and transitions to standard IGS outlets.
As part of Victaulic’s product development process, Brett Carley, Summit’s Division Manager in Des Moines, IA, was approached through his local Victaulic field representative. He was advised that the company was looking for an installation to trial the new fitting and sprinkler in preparation of commercialization. In April of 2018, Brett’s team installed the sprinkler and coupling in a new 200,000 sq.ft. warehouse in Iowa. One of outcomes of the installation was an industry news article on the new FIRELOCK product. Victaulic sought Summit’s interest to participate in the news article and partnered with Hemming Publications to publish the story.
Attached is a copy of the article that was released in the Q3 2018 edition of Industrial Fire Journal (IFJ). Read this article and find more information on the new mechanical fitting here.
